Were going back next week but couldnt get in the dynasty :( Its the best place i have ever stayed! loved it!. THe best places locally to eat around there that we found are
Grace Kellies - at dynasty, awesome pub food
Golden Lotus - at dynasty - chinese food, when you see the menu at the door it looks very expensive, but the servings are huge! so its works out to be great value
I did their roast night - i didnt like it, entertainment was good tho.
opposite the dynasty and heading up towards Matahari is Bubba Gumps - great food and atmosphere
Sticking to that same side of the road is flap jacks - best crepes and pancakes

and still on that same side of the road is a small little kebab place, cheap and tasty.

then on the opposite side of the road, at the Bali Garden Hotel is a beach front restaurant called the boardwalk (stunning setting) cheap food, best lambshanks in bali, if you go on a monday night there is traditional balinese dancers, then after dinner you can walk along the beach front back to your hotel.

There is a fantastic money changer right next door to dynasty, there was no signage in february, but it was the kodak shop, very honest.

then next door to that is a dvd shop and downstairs is a mini mart (dynasty also has a little shop at the front but expensive)
mataharis about 10 min walk up the road, has a supermarket downstairs, you can get all your supplies from there, including things like milo drinks and snacks for kids.

change your money over there, here we get ripped off, they give us a much much lower rate plus take a comission, dont change at hotels either. The shop next to dynasty is the only place i use. Best rate and honest service, i still always re-count my money, but have never been ripped off. they are an authorized place. there are places on the street advertising higher exchange rates, but they are sneaky and rip you off.

over the road from dynasty is Diannes fixed price shop, she is fantastic, her prices are very reasonable, her shop has glass doors on the front, there is Jennys shop, then another shop, then Diannes - go to diannes. it gives you a rough idea what you should be paying for stuff when bartering in the markets

if you want to see an awesome shop get them to take you to carefore - its a huge supermarket/department shop all in 1. Huge isle of alchol, they sell all supermarket stuff, cold stuff, frozen stuff, and general stuff like our Kmart would sell, like clothing, shoes, tvs, et.

Next door to bubba gumps in the alley every night at 8pm there is a magic illusion show, its brilliant! costs just under $10au

if you have young kids there is a new water park called kuta green park, havent been, but are going there sometime next week - i will do a JBR so look out for it in a couple of weeks you can google The New Kuta Green Park and it shows you pics and entry is just over %$10 au

i hope some of this info has been of help :)
