One of the most disappointing meals

I've had in Bali was the one I had last week at the Sang Ria on Jl Werkudara Legian.

This is a new restaurant opened approx. 6 months ago by the owner/manager of the Waroeng Asia which, at the time, was the reason for going as we've been to the Asia many times and always had good, tasty food there.

Unfortunately, the Sang Ria was a great disappointment.

First of all, the pluses.

The eating area is set back from the road which was good planning and made for a relatively quiet atmosphere away from traffic noise and fumes. It is an open space but to call it a garden setting is pushing it a bit considering it's mostly lawn planted in concrete pavers (nothing wrong with that). The setting hasn't really be fully utilised as a garden retreat (maybe there'll be plans for this in the future).

The negatives.

Drinks that were ordered included a mixed fruit. It was watery.

One entree was a stuffed eggplant - it was raw and the filling was just luke warm.

The mains included a chicken burrito (stone cold outside and in) which was consequently sent back untouched to be heated but came back a short time later only to be mildly warm on the inside and still cool on the outside. The filling was bland and tasteless.

Another main meal was a burger with a side if fries - again both stone cold and lacking flavour.

On the strength of Waroeng Asia (well known for its Thai food), a chicken laksa was ordered as a main.
Ten minutes after the other mains had arrived, the laksa was served. The meat was fine but the actual soup was boring and lacked the asian flavours so abundant at its sister restaurant. It was also disappointing that there was no fork to use for the noodles (ever tried eating noodles with just a spoon ?).

Not being one who believes in putting up and not doing/saying anything about substandard food/service in Bali but then getting home or onto the internet a whinging about it, I asked to speak to the manager. I told him the problems with our meals and drinks and his response was "Well, what would you like me to do about it ?". Thinking the answer was obvious but having to actually say it, I pointed out what needed to be attended to. There was no offer of a reduced price or, heaven forbid, a complimentary meal.

Why they didn't just move Waroeng Asia to the new location I don't know as it's always busy, the food is fantastic and would have thrived even more in the open area.
