Flew to Bali on 28th September and checked into Aston Kuta Hotel - premier suite. Fantastic hotel, staff friendly, pool nice, food lovely and plenty of choice (huge breakfast choice!).
Went to Bali Zoo and got some awesome photo. Paid an extra 700k at the end of our day for a cd with all the photos their professional photographers took of us while wandering around. Got 3 big photos printed for free as well. My son went on the flying fox, got some great photos of my kids holding a crocodile, bearcat, and tiger cub. Not the biggest zoo and there is a bit of work going on upgrading some of the animal enclosures. The lions were awesome, they came right up to the window and were doing hi-5's with my kids. (maybe they wanted to eat them!!!).
Went up to Kintamani and got stopped twice on the way where we had to 'pay' some police. Monkey Forest at Ubud was worth going to. Only cost 20K to get in and then 20K for bananas to feed them. Got some great photos of my kids with monkeys in their lap. Told my son it was hard to tell the difference between the monkeys and him - my sense of humour not appreciated at this time!
Went swimming with the dolphins at Sanur. Initially when we tried to book some months ago we were told they were fully booked but I took the risk and booked with a guy called Putu via email/facebook. Everything turned out wonderful despite my concerns with whether we actually had a booking. My email is open for anyone who wants details to contact Putu. The experience was awesome and something my kids and I will never forget.
Went to Bali Kids (an orphanage and medical centre run by an Australian) as we do every trip. Was great to see the children looking so healthy and happy, bit sad that little Gede had passed away since our last visit. Toured the new orphanage being built with funds donated by generous international business men and families. Need another 150K AUD to finish. Will be so special once it is finished. I always take extra luggage with us at no charge as most airlines will let you if you contact them in the weeks prior to your departure. The kids are so apprecaitive! the yoyo's were a hit too!
Spent lots of money, had lots of nice food to eat, got many wonderful massages and now counting down the days till we return in January!
