Im not sure how your words ‘Its great to take the high road when someone else is paying' make sense.. "someone else"???? You keep mentioning YOUR taxes... Are you saying that no one else in Australia pays taxes other than you??? I sure as hell pay my taxes and Im pretty sure this young boys parents do too....
You say you do not want your taxes going on those who break the law..
Prisons, Youth detention centres, Offender release programs, drug rehabilitation programs, government funded defence lawyers, etc etc. All these are paid with YOUR taxes. You will never change that. How would you like it if people without children started saying that they did not want THEIR taxes going on government schools, or family tax benefit etc.. If you wish NOT to have your taxes spent on helping this or any other similar plight, live in another country. This is Australia........ Its what we do!!
As for the young boy who may or may not be going to jail in Bali, as a family member of someone who has been in Kerobokan, and after visiting him as often as I could, I would NEVER want my child in there no matter what their mistake. I would be thanking god for the Australian Government and the people of Australia who pay taxes, that they could do anything to keep my kid out of there.
