We all try to get our kids to listen to our 'good advice', don't we? Our 15 year old grandson will be there in Jan. with his parents and I have already started the pep talks. I'm a teacher and have taken 3 school tours to Bali with Year 9 and 10 students (75 students all up) over the years. Thank goodness they all listened to our pep talks. Just hope my grandson does. He has been to Bali with me a few times before and we have had the old trick of 'drop something in front of us and see if we pick it up'. I did see the policeman sitting around the corner and knew what was going on. As I speak the language, he certainly got an ear full from me. Loud enough for the policeman to hear as well.

Only last week though, I was in Bali and walking along behind a young Aussie couple when the young teenager was asked if he wanted drugs. He was shocked and turned around to me and asked if I had heard what that young Balinese boy just asked him. I said I did hear. He was shocked as that was his first time in Bali. He had been there two days. He also asked me if I had seen the policeman sitting arouind the corner. I had noticed the policeman. So, I explained the situation and how some of the young men offering drugs work for the police. He was shocked. He had no idea. I praised him for the way he had responded to the young seller and he left with his eyes even more 'wide open'.
