Nothing to do with taking the high road. All to do with lucky to be living in a country that helps its citizens when they get into trouble overseas. You may have been lucky to have gotten your teenagers through their teen years without getting into any trouble, as I have. But to begrudge someone else a few dollars to help this family, is selfish and mean spirited. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and realise what a lucky country you live in.
