Ubud to Safari Park

Trying to help friends decide whether to stay overnight at the Safari Park or do a day trip. We have stayed overnight before and loved it. Question is if they do a day trip would it be easier form Legian or from Ubud? Hoping to spend time at both locations. Or would it be worth stopping overnight there on the way to Ubud from Legian?
