As far as I know you must have 2 blank pages to travel o/seas. I was happy to see them put the new 1/2 page visa on the same page as another one earlier this year although that didn't happen the time after. Not sure that I can direct him to do so either!
As my passport doesn't expire till 2016 I will probably have to bite the bullet and get another one before too long.
