Public holidays

Hoping someone can help me. We have been to Bali the last 2 times in September and it's always some sort of public holiday. It means there's lots of traffic and some shops are closed. What is the name of this time and does anyone know what date it is next year? We're trying to organise next years holiday and would like to avoid this time. Any help is much appreciated.
