I reckon it would take a good 2.5 - 3 hours to get there, especially if you went up the middle to the left of Ubud and through Candikuning and Bedugul.
It might be a bit shorter by 30 minutes or so if you go up the left through Tabanan and Pupuan. Not quite so busy on that road.
I think it would be better to do a trip like that from Ubud.
There's quite a few steps but it's not that bad, nothing like the steps when you go rafting.
Being the dry season and not so much rain there might not be a lot of water flowing.
The better falls are the Lost Waterfalls of Lemukih, but no-one from the south of the island knows how to get there. It's completely unsignposted so you'll need to find a local guide.
Great falls with about six or seven chutes. Takes ages to get there and lots of steps down (and up again) but well worth it.
Maybe not so good for a really big person unless you're fit.
I'm not a small bloke and managed it, but Munduk would be easier for sure.
