that way you cover your bases if you are unsure. Be prepared to have stuff confiscated is my moto, though I never spend big $$ on anything so I'm not going to be devastated if things get binned.
I have bought back coffee (not the coffee bean stuff that the animal eats - I cant get my head around that) and heaps of other prepacked food products and havent had anything taken off me so far.
Mind you I dont bring meat or any type of animal/milk product back in, mainly spices, sauces and coffee.
I must have lucked out with the customs crew, in all my trips (7) I haven't had anything taken off me.
Common sence does come into it though. If it looks dodgy then it probably is.
