optimistic., I have a copy of the new law and though I speak Indonesian I can not understand it because of all the legal jargon. However my understanding is that a foreign spouse if married more than two years and the local spouse dies or they divorce has the right of abode in Indonesia still. I realise now that I was probably wrongly assuming that the western spouse gets ownership of the land. So now I am curious if the old rule about having to sell within one year of the death of a spouse still applies. Something I need to check out! It is still a a problem lets say if my husband died before me and I had to sell the business, even if I was allowed to stay on in Indonesia..
