I am absolutely proud of the fact that we pay more for everything.
We have a quality of life that is seldom matched and rarely beaten anywhere on this planet. Things that we take for granted such as universal health care, free education and a relatively inscrutable justice system, the ability to spend our surplus income on holidays in foreign lands is the envy of most of the world's population. This reality we enjoy in Oz is more than the wildest dreams of most humans alive today let alone the billions that have preceded ourselves.
Between ourselves we Aussies refer to home as the lucky country. Damn right!!!
I could respond at length at why we pay more than the US for consumer goods. Just consider, that the lowliest retail employee in Oz is vastly better off than their stateside peer.
My career has taken me to the ends of the earth and I count myself as ceaselessly lucky and proud to call Australia home.
Advance Australia Fair.
