Wherever there are hotels there are inexpensive places nearby where the staff eat so ask them.

There is a good, cheap Indonesian restaurant in Jl 66 at the beach end - forget the name - Warung Murah maybe. There are a few cheap places near Garden View in Jl Padma Utara. A good one near 3 Brothers.

Also there are food vendors on the beach walkway. They wash utensils & plates in a bucket of cold water so it's a good idea to have your own cutlery & ask for the food to take away (di bunkus, I think - wrapped in brown greaseproof paper). Always use antiseptic hand wipes.

Wandering around the back lanes of Legian you will come across small warungs & almost all will cook up a nasi or mie goreng for you. Also, listen for the mobile food sellers - they ring a bell or toot a horn. Some great things from them - I especially love Nasi Bunkus & Pisang Goreng from the morning sellers.

Selamat makaan.
