in Bali over the years, not so many lately though. They are real characters. Everything they see that they want is theirs and theirs alone, very possessive. But if you get on with one it will carefully groom your hair, ostensibly looking for nits and bugs, but really just doing it as a form of social interaction. I lke them, but it can take a while to convince them of your bona fides if you interact with one that has been badly treated. They also have good memories for someone who mistreats them, and will wait patiently for an opportunity to get even.

The ethics of it may be an issue for some, but in that case so should be the ethics of having any animal as a pet.

Best idea would be to find someone with a pet monkey and get them to visit.
