You buy your items, the shop offers to pack them for you, you say sure that would be great and come back for it later. The packing is fantastic and so tightly done that there's no getting into it and no reason to either (or so it seems). Get the stuff home and it is in bits despite the tremendous packing job. Its a really effective way for shops to offload their already damaged stock.
