i have only been going to bali for 8 years now, i spend 5 month a year there for work. i have a house i keep on 66 all year, i find, in the 8 years i have been there, the streests are never clean or cared for, the beaches are full with garbage of all sorts, the water is full with plastic at certain times of the year, the man hole covers all over from ubud to seminyak are broken, the high rises going up all up and down the coast line of the beaches is very scary for where will more sewage and garbage go! , the hustle of the locals(not only balinese) as u walk the streest is mind boggling, but there is still the sense of excoitness to draw u back again there. yes, the balinese have become "what is in it for me" people in the city and main tourist areas, but the open friendlness of the locals compair to no where in the world i have ever been! i m from a small island in the western caribbean, where we all know eachother, and try to live together with tourists, and many cruise ships, we are friendly people, but still not like the indonesian smile u get for free many times u stroll down the dirty streets of bali! so, weigh it out, got to take the good with the bad1 nowhere is perfect and nowere is ever going to be! choice is, go with the flow or dont go at all! as they say in bali 'up to u"
