An agent will do exactly what you would do but will pay the current best price (with slight travel agent wholesale discount, which they keep by the way). You have the benefit of 12 months of shopping around and keeping the ear to the ground for the dirt cheap (almost giveaway)flights, and if you keep checking WWW.WEGO.COM every so often you WILL pick up good accommodation at a good price.
HOWEVER, if it was the Bali Garden hotel you meant, and you intend going in School Holidays period, then this is a different kettle of fish. This is a very popular stay for families, and you may be better to secure this one earlier rather than later.
Good Luck, be your own travel agent and eventually they will be forced to pass on some of the discounts they get.
