Pretty sure September is the end of the dry season so might not be quite as good as June/July as winds might be onshore on the west coast. Am sure it would still be good though. I've surfed in the wet season and it was great. Not too crowded and still good waves. Also more likely to be offshore on the east coast so if you like right handers it might even be better.
