have stayed at both, patra lovely big resort,perhaps a little tired in some areas, heaps and heaps of kids if you are near school hols, once counted 119 babies and kids around pool. however, if you book a villa it has its own pool for villa guests (supposedly), rama is not as big, quite a compact resort with big rooms, good for couples, personally, wouldn't stay at either again, for a little more $$ there are nicer
