We love the beach path. My wife hates walking on sand for more that about 5 metres, so the path with shade over much of its length is perfect.
Do the same as you from SBV but walk north then taxi or Bemo back. By the time you've got to the Sindhu Markets a beer is more than welcome.
At the northern end like the Bonsai and the Beach Cafe, South go for Kesumas (south of Mercure)or one of the 3 cafes just north of Sanur Beach Hotel (Bobby's, Donalds, Cemara)
