Pick 2 or 3 different areas and divide your time between them. This cuts down or out if you so desire, the need to travel by road to see places and then fight the traffic home.
We were there during Indonesian school holidays earlier this year and my plan worked for us since we could walk almost everywhere we wanted to go. One notable exception was when we wanted to go to meet friends in 66 Legian/Seminyak and got into a cab on Bemo corner around 5.30 at night and then spent a full hour on Jln. Majapahit which would normally be 5 minutes. Would have been much quicker to walk along the beach!
