We always buy our alcohol duty free, at Mandurah duty free and put it in our luggage that goes in the hold. One reason is it is a fair bit cheaper and for smokers you will save at least $12 a carton [you take them with your carry on]. All you do is hand your receipt in as you go through customs. Done this on at last my last dozen or so trips
