8 a day is the average. I have helped many a crash victim with first aid. Thongs, singlets, shorts, bikins and no helmet all add up to serious injury even at low speed. I helped girl last year who sliced one nipple nearly off. Her comment was " I was only doing 40kmh". Another guy I helped this time, came around a bend thinking he was riding at home, hit a car lucky he missed everything and ended up with just some cuts and bruises. Could have been worse. Whilst the police are on a crackdown that is more about graft than actually doing something. Ride by all means, make sure you are careful and have insurance. You get injured get home ASAP.
