Just another thought, not that i think your parents should be concerned about your safety, we did an 8 day intrepid tour of bali a few years ago and had a ball. About 10 in a minibus, from 20's to 50's [we were the oldies!], all nationalities. Went to some amazing places that we would never had found on our own, did bike ride, volcano sunrise hike, snorkelling etc. I thought it was a great way to experience a lot in a short amount of time.
