as and american orginally my self, i remember 27 years ago when i left america for the first time, it is just and american way of thinking that it is not safe for u to go alone! trust me, i have been all around the world alone and never had a problem, but i have used common sense along the way! bali is one of the safest places i have ever been (except when leaving the clubs in kuta late at night) u can make plenty of friends to hang with, and hotels are cheap. $100 usd a day is more then enough to sleep/eat/drink/ and shop per day!as the other posted said, LOOK FOR ROOM OM POPPIES 1 LIKE "masa inn" or something like that! many restuarants and shops, internets... there. good luck and have a great time!
