We have stayed at both Melasti Beach Resort and Jayakarta and would recommend either. Both have swim up bars, both have acceptable brekkys (egg station, bacon, other hot food, fruit, toast, pastries, cereal, juice) both are right on the beach at Legian (very close to each other, however Jayakarta is a wee bit closer to the restaurants)and both were under your budget. If I had to choose between the two, I would go Melasti but in saying that, we have stayed at Jayakarta twice.
Both are a good exercise walk into Kuta (to walk off the great brekky)
We just love the position of both places.
No problems with staff at either place. D
Don't under any circumstances mix up MBR with the other Melasti near Kuta. I understand it is a bit of a dive. Have a look on Trip Advisor for recommendations for both. You will find positives and negatives for both.
