If you exit Mercure at the beach exit and turn right along the beach path you will come to a group of restaurants actually on the beach, as in your table is on the beach which means your kids can play in the sand or splash in the sea which is shallow and calm except at low tide when they will just have to be happy with the sand option! Many little market shops sell packs of buckets spades etc.
If you turn left on the beach and walk a short way you will come to Bobbie's, Donald's and one other the name of which eludes me, same deal on the beach but maybe not quite so easy to keep an eye on the kids. The vast majority of restaurants in Bali are kid friendly except maybe some of the higher end ones.
