thanks guys, i have contacted la joya and they too have been informed by the local banjar (elder) that they can no longer hold weddings/functions on the beach themselves and have to go through some big hotel chain that has purchased the management which is really difficult! it is really sad as this was one of the few non developed beaches. i just feel sorry for people who were planning to have their wedding at balangan this week!
I am now looking at Nusa dua or Canguu- can anyone suggest any nice "secluded" beaches?
