Where are you staying for the night? Great hotels for reasonable price in the Golden Triangle area. We stayed at Swiss Garden Hotel in July for about AUD$100 per night. Great hotel in great location. Across the road from Bukit Bantang which is the best shopping district in KL. Awesome shopping. Also across road from Jalan Alor which is a street blocked off for 100's of street food stalls starting about 6pm till very late. Awesome food and drinks - very cheap.
If you want to get a cab to town from airport use the LIMO service - set price cabs for 74MYR (about AUD$25) and it will take about 40mins.
Petronas Towers is fantastic but a pain to organise. You can see the towers from anywhere in KLespecially at night.
Petaling StreetChinatown) is 10mins walk from Swiss Garden. Lots of markets - pretty heavy touting, but good prices if you persevere. Good in Petaling street also very good. I love KL !
