My husband has very happily flown Strategic at least twice with his surfboards. His luggage is always the same weight.
In early June he decided to join me in Bali at short notice. When he was checking in at Perth airport he was told he had to pay $90 in cash only for his boards. Hadn't happened before so he argued for a while but was tired & he thought maybe things had changed. Wasn't given a receipt & when he realised & went back to ask for it the queue was long so he didn't bother.
Anyway, back home he checked out the Strategic web site - no charge for sporting equipment within his weight. So he emailed Strategic. Of course there should not have been any extra charge & the $90 has finally been refunded. Took some hassling.
Naturally, that turned us off flying with Strategic. If it happened to my husband I am sure that many people have been ripped off by Strategic check-in staff. Even if Strategic wasn't ending it's flights to Bali from Perth we wouldn't use that airline. Although Strategic didn't say so (of course they wouldn't) it seemed like a nice little scam the imported ground staff had happening.
