I love the research you are doing and I have no experience of kids clubs as we never used them. I have not stayed at the Mercure.
I have stayed at the Sanur beach hotel but not with young kids. The SBH is a huge hotel, not many Australians stay there but maybe that doesn't matter. Our room was good and not smelly as a room in the hotel had been when we were sent there by Garuda due to a one day flight delay.
I hate saying this but the hotel guests were not particularly friendly. I mean they say good morning but for the majority English is not their language.
I know people have rants about this on the forum with screams of polital correctness so I am just advising you as to what you will find.
If I were you honestly I would stay closer to the other end. The Griya Santrian and the Segara Village are in a great location...but no kids club. The Griya does not include breakfast which might be a pain and the new pool at the Segara I think is a bit odd with little shade. The old pool is now half the size but has shade.
I think the Griya is the best really and breakfast along the beach front is cheap and plentiful.
