so....we arrived at Hotel Kumala about 10.00 am and went to our room. The room is A block was all OK but as expected very close to the building. They did not work all night last night and I slept like a baby (by which I don't mean thumb in mouth and wearing a nappy).
I planned today to hold "high tea" on our little back balcony with the builders. I imagined having dainty cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut off, Earl Grey Tea and maybe a finger or two of Madeira cake which we could pass around from balcony to scaffolding (steel not bamboo what is the world coming to?)
However it was not to be. At breakfast I had a call from Pak Resepsi to say they had a cancellation in C block and we could move after breakfast so we did.
We are now the occupiers of a very nice room in C block away from the construction site which is lucky because apparently they are having a concrete pour and will be working all night tonight. Breakfast was nice, room is good, the KK can come downstairs in the upright position and I am happily using the free WIFI, obviously.
Originally we could only stay until 3 days before we go home so I emailed SBVs and have a room there for the last 3 nights. Now, with the cancellation we could stay here but I am now looking forward to returning to SBVS and the KK is keen to see his Dog and his Puppy again and in any case he wouldn't have a hope in hell of keeping me away from Sanur now that the opportunity has presented itself. Also our clothes etc just pack themselves now since they have been in and out of the bags so much in the last few days!!!
Went back to Jadi Cafe for lunch with a friend from SGI on Monday and she was as impressed as we were and is planning to take her family back when they arrive.
I am still a little disappointed about missing the afternoon tea and now have a cucumber and a large Madeira cake surplus to requirements. Now I come to think of it I am not keen on Madeira cake nor cucumber and in fact find Earl Grey a little pretentious preferring an Irish Breakfast really but not sure about the etiquette of serving Irish Breakfast tea in the afternoon.
