I have also travelled to bali with young children, our last trip this year we had a 3 year old and 15 month old and neither got sick. We are quite particular on where we eat however you find most places in Bali are up with western standards (if not better these days)
Runny noses and Coughs are more common from swimming and in and out of air con.
I always prepare for the worst, take some gastrolyte as well as childrens panadol and there is another medication that my doctor recommends which I can't remember the name of but have a chat with your doctor or pharmacist. As people say you can always get these things over there but my theory is if it hits at 2am in the morning you are best to have your own suppliers!

But as others have also mentioned hygiene is a huge part also, but unfortunately we can only control to a certain extent as some people don't have the same standards as us.

Have a great trip!
