I have gleamed many useful tips and information from BTF therefore I believe,as this is a forum, both positive and negative information should be shared. I recently visited Bali, had a great time, as usual, however I visited Janoko's Tailor in Poppies Lane II, was very disappointed with the results. In fact I asked for my deposit back after their 3rd attempt, as the dress was a mess. I have been to Janokos numerous times, however, this time i had a coat altered (very basic- hem, width)even took a coat to copy from. Well that took 2 attempts, result was ok, not fantastic. Had a dress made, took a picture with me, basic pattern, knee length. Well, that took 3 attempts, they couldnt even get a straight hem on their 2nd attempt. During the alteration process they completely changed the design of the dress. This took them 7 days to sew. I believe they are too busy, this was also confirmed by a local trader as he said "too many people/orders some unhappy customers". They seem to be ok with suits, it appears the dresses are giving them problems. Anyway be warned as I had read some negative reports lately about Janokos, however i thought they might have struck a bad/busy time . If my dress had been for a special occasion ie ball, I would be extremely disappointed and very upset.
Janokos staff ( a fellow I havnt seen before) was extremely rude and non apologetic. He threw my money at me and said "get out, and dont come back again"! Dont worry, I wont as there are plenty of other good tailors in Bali!!
