I went up to Bali a couple of years ago specifically to furnish and decorate my backyard. I used Felicia to source and ship and Trish to clear. What I spent in Bali I spent on having the goods delivered to my door and I used 12 cubic metres of a shared container.
Without a doubt I would recommend the process to anyone provided you use trusted and proven carriers. The beauty being that all my furniture was individually designed and colored to my spec and all in all half the cost of purchasing here in Perth.
Re customs broker costs,well 5 one metre statues equal 1 cubic in a container at approx cost of $350 door to door so figures way off.
