$17hr does seem a little high. At Bali Dynasty we usually pay 30,000 Rupiah per hour and then an extra 100,000Rp bonus if past 10pm. Payment is directly to the babysitter. Are you staying at a 5 star hotel? Most times the hotels use staff from the kids club/spa etc. Perhaps this hotel is using an outside agency?? You can ask about qualifications.
