Jetstar is a budget airline working on very tight margins - I hate to tell you but big businesses are NOT known for their big hearts. What you described can and has happened to even major airlines. Just last week Delta was critized for overcharging returning American troops serving their country and risking their life. Of course when they get caught they will change their tune.
