Even the night time showers seem to have gone now, and each day clear and bright with light cloud and nice afternoon sea breezes.
The kites are flying many and high (are they REALLY that close to aircraft??)
The swell and break off Kuta/Legian/Seminyak has been huge, the biggest I have seen and causing some erosion close to Negara it is reported.
All is well at the favourite accom. spot with more family groups arriving daily and all seeming to be very happy and many positive comments from individuals to further support this.
I have been shopping for some "different" things with a lounge suite currently being made along with a set of folding doors.
The myriad of furniture shops along Sunset Rd, The by-pass and Imam Bonjol take a fair bit of scanning, and a possible dining suite was spotted in Kerobokan.
It was also a full half day to get some electronics fitted to a car in Denpasar, where I picked up a few bits for a vehicle back in Perth......pricing excellent.
The old favourites for grocery shopping with Bali Jaya, Supernova and Carrefour at the head of the list.
If you go to Discovery Plaza, try to do so at 10am when the "staff dances" are on......something you will not see in Myers!!
Eating has been varied, with Kuta Steakhouse, Tom Yum. Basil Leaves, Alley Cats, Kori, Uns and others on the agenda.
There is a local warung opposite KTH called Seafood Corner which will cook great food right in front of you at extremely cheap prices.
All contrasted well with a great night at KuDeTa where the top deck was booked out for a 50th birthday with business friends.
Fantastic food and ambience in the late afternoon and into the night......a bit "yuppy" for me, but good to do once in a while.
Bintang prices vary greatly, with "Choppers" bar in a small gang just a couple of hundred yards away selling very cold at Rp11,000 each the cheapest warung.
By the exchange crate at a wholesalers, you can buy for Rp235,000 after the initial purchase of a crate of full ones, so at just over one dollar cheap drinking if you intend to buy a lot over a period of time.
Buying at a dollar gives good margin to those selling at 30K plus along with tax+tax.
Traffic is still very heavy around Jalan Legian, with road works and cruising taxis contributing.
We went to Tabanan to visit Balinese friends yesterday.
An interesting day, as the elder was a chef at a large resort and is an expert in Balinese cooking, so much exchange of recipies and tasting was in order.
I hired a Karimun for the return trip (120K) but was glad to get rid of it after the 2 hr trip for 40km was completed.
Its back to treadlys and the motor bike for us.
Just on that, we recently visited an old friend in BIMC who was knocked off his bike and suffered broken ribs, broken collar bone and a bad head gash in spite of wearing a helmet......damage around AUD10,000........hati hati and get the insurance cover right (as he has done)
Well its off to Makasar this morning before returning to KTH for the next stage of our trip.....much to see and much to do.
