...last November. We were literally in the queue and 2 'officials' with guns came over to us to tell us to get locks. We asked why, wondering what they might know about people stealing from cases maybe? They fluffed and f*rted around with some pathetic excuses and we sort of ignored them but they got closer and insisted. So one of our group went off to buy a lock and when he came back, the 'officials' were gone! I'm guessing they are getting a pay back for sending suckers (ie us) to a specific shop to buy locks? It's not like there are a dozen shops to choose from when you are checking in so they know who we will go to. We have now learnt of course and won't be sucked in, as you say, the locks were p*ss weak and wouldnt stop anyone! I guess the best bet is to get locks anyhow?

(Speaking of which, someone stole our name tags off our suitcases when we returned from Vietnam a fortnight ago. What is that all about? We didn't have our full address on the case, so that might be a lesson too? Just thought I'd mention this in case it happened or started happening in Bali).
