Just flew home this morning after quick visit to Bali on way back from 12 days in Thailand. My daughter and I thought we'd give Bangkok/Koh Samui and Phuket a go and couldn't help but compare it to Bali. Met other Aussies doing the same. Enjoyed our stay in Thailand BUT we LOVE BALI and couldn't wait to get there - if only for the tail end of our trip. Oh and by far better shopping in Bali we found. Needless to say we were a tad over in baggage kgs - lovely check-in guys quickly whipped our heaviest bag off to the back so's we'd only be up for 3kgs over excess to pay and from looking at the reading from our heavier bag it was going up up up and way over than a few kgs so we were very grateful.
So when we arrived we couldn't wait to get out walking and breathin in Bali atmosphere quick enough. Pantai for lunch and Poppies for dinner also ate at Kuta Puri restaurant and other favourite places(all so good - nasi goreng and chap chay - yes we reckon could be our stable diet) - along with delicious fruit drinks that we never seem to have here back home. God I feel healthy - hope it lasts - for at least a week maybe - along with our tans as reminder of glorious heat and sunshine and smiles of Bali Bali Bali.
Hey all - just one downer - have to just kind of alert you please beware of drinks being spiked - thought I'd shout myself night before last to scotch and coke at Secret Garden and gotta say had a off feeling about the waiter serving us (which is really rare for Bali). He was nice enough but something wasn't 'right'. Anyway after he'd left our cokes (cans unopened) and I poured mine into glass with scotch I took mouthful through straw and instantly something was weird about it - I felt weird and it wasn't anything like I'd felt before - kind of disconnected feeling. And my 16 yr old daughter and I both felt that the waiter was acting stange serving us and watching my glass on and off and smiling - different. So I got my daughter to pour my drink into the garden when he'd gone off somewhere BUT I'm totally sure something was in it. He came back and asked some off questions. So please Beware. I downed heaps of water after but struggled with walking back to the hotel - hate to think what might have happened if I'd had more.
Other than that - ALL was fabulous. Few mozzies gettin around so take the bug spray. Would much rather be sittin in internet cafe in Kuta somewhere right now than at my desk here back home. Oh well got fabulous memories - so much fun. Bali still remains on top of our list for best holiday destination.
