Bali was my first Overseas adventure and it was Love at first Sight,Smell and Taste.
On leaving Bali through rivers of tears I vowed to one day return.
Since then 32 years have slipped through my fingers like rupees at a dodgy money changer,
Now I am finally returning to paradise in 2 weeks for 8 weeks in various places around Bali with my 2 Granddaughters aged 8 & 5 ' it is their first OS trip'
and I am certain that like me they to will catch Bali Heart.
I have been thinking about the changes that have come to the Island as I reminiscing the
Bali of 1979
Kuta was a mish mash of boisterous stalls clustered on thin dirt paths, generous smiles stretched across pearly teeth ,rhythmic hands beckoning me to buy just one more sarong.
Banana pancakes was the specialty in every restaurant,
incense and frangipani permeated the thick tropical humidity while roaming dogs devoured yummy morsels from intricately woven platters.
I was taken back by the endless tolerance of the Balinese dealing with SOME Yobo Australians who acted like idiot bogans gate crashing a party in someone else's back yard.
Nusa Dua was a vast empty stretch of white sand fringed with coconut trees,
It was here I meet 'Ni Wyan Rinso' a small girl of about 8 who carried soft drinks in a cooler on her head.
I have often thought of her and wondered how her life panned out.
And so again many thanks to those who share a love of Bali and its People.
