I can relate to that even though i live in Australia. I haven't asked the neighbours to do something about their rats so my cat proudly brings home the occasional rat for a present too. He doesn't leave off meowing and purring about it until i praise him and say yummy.
Cockroaches.. WA has some of the biggest cockroaches i've ever seen. One or two occasionally find their way inside, no big deal to me because i cart them outside again.
We've had termites in the yard however i let black ants be and they are termite predators; The most recent pest control inspection report said the house is termite free probably due to all the black ant activity. ( I have no termite barriers and don't use chemicals to control them)
Spiders, heaps of them! I like spiders. For different reasons, so do willy wagtails.
If anyone came around on a day when there was a dead rat the cat had dumped in his dinner bowl for me, or a cockroach strutting about, or spiders hanging about from the eaves, they'd be focused on those things rather than on the fact that the rest of the place is spotless, the cats is happy, and that there are willy wagtails living here.

After reading Nunna's report i'd be wanting to do a KTH room inspection before staying there though. His reports just kept getting more gross lol
