Just returned from my 8th trip to Bali and this was the first time that we had stayed in a villa (Ulin in Seminyak) and first time staying in Seminyak. I loved everything about staying in a villa except I missed cocktails by the pool (I suppose you could make them yourself but I don't like doing anything when I'm on holidays) and spa treatments close by (although Ulin had a spa so that problem was solved). Of course it was a lot more expensive and as there is such a huge variety you would have to do some research to get something good value for money.
If you decide on a villa you should be able to get lots of recommendations on TA or this forum, once you decide on a complex just ask which is the best villa in the complex (so you get the sunniest pool etc).
