We've stayed there several times and now that you mention it, it's not the most pristine place I've ever seen. You are right in that I doubt the cleaning staff takes a scrubbing brush to the walls and floors after every checkout.
Dried boogers - how gross! However, I doubt that it will be the first or the last hotel this happens at.
We've always found it to be very comfortable and clean enough when we've stayed. And for $120 per night for a massive 2 bed, 2 bath apartment, I am not expecting it to be bright and shiny. If I was paying $450 per night, I sure would be though.
