I stayed there on my first trip to Bali in 2001 and was shocked! The brochure we were given by the travel agent showed a lovely clean room etc..... after 8 trips to Bali I have discovered that this is the norm!
It wasn't the best but since then I have stayed in worse! Not sure how it compares $ wise but the best budget hotel I have had so far is Baleka Beach, not too far from Legian Village Hotel.
Stayed at Bali Village Hotel opposite Baleka Beach at Christmas, that would have to be the worst I have had......but then you get what you pay for!
