We stayed at those hotels in Feb and June 2010. Grand Sinar is opposite Melasti bathrooms are a bit tired but the room is a good size and ac great - staff are very friendly, breakfast is very basic but one can pay for more - good location good value for money.
Sinar Bali is a block back from Nikasoma(?) down a lane rooms not so big but brekky a buffet type and staff again friendly both have nice pools but few lounges. Both good value for money only difference is one is closer to the action in Garlic lane by about 500yds.
Have a good time - we are there in Oct also and haven't thought of booking accommodation yet!
