Hi baligranny ... I've travelled to Bali for many years and have found rebooking directly with the hotel/villa has worked for me.
You can always cancel the booking usually about 3 months out from your next visit so you are not locked in to pay anything. However if you decide to carry on with the booking they will normally require confirmation and deposit.
Online booking sites are pretty much the same these days I find.
