Best way if you can, is to get a "direct" flight with no plane change (GA 724 & 725)
[Unfortunately now Garuda have stopped their proper direct flight with no stops)
Direct flight lands in Bali
Passengers disembark and wait for other passengers which are boarding in Bali for the onward flight to Jakarta (in the transit lounge)
Then you all board together again
Those that came from Perth retain the same seat
For the flights with a plane change you disembark as usual in Bali, go through the necessary Immigration & customs & bag pick up.
You then have to get the domestic flight to Jakarta from the domestic airport in Bali
Usually the time between the 2 flights is not that long, so ok if no delays.
I was told domestic flight will not be held if flight from Perth delayed
However Garuda have numerous flights leaving per day Bali - Jakarta so you would be put on the next available flight
We have done the direct flight (no plane change) before & have booked it again for later in the year
