I'm not great on street names, but for shopping I'd recommend Jalan Raya Seminyak, Jalan Laksmana and Jalan Kunti. For restaurants, Jalan Laksmana and Petitenget are fantastic.
My favourite restaurants in the area are probably La Lucciola on the beach (the food and sunset views are sensational) and Sarong (glamourous and excellent pan-Asian food).
I tend to just ask taxis to stop and let me out if I see a group of shops I want to look at it. Taxis are so cheap this doesn't blow the budget like it would at home!
